Moncton, New Brunswick in over a century of economic growth, has built a multi-lingual, vibrant cultural community life around its geographical advantage of “ you can get there from here”, when referring to the Maritimes and Atlantic Canada.

Moncton tourism is a central travel and information hub for visitors to southern New Brunswick communities and to the Maritime Provinces.

Moncton has been known as Greater Moncton to incorporate the rapdily growing City of Dieppe on the eastside of the City of Moncton along the Peticodiac River's north side in Westmorland County, and the ever expanding Town of Riverview, NB across the brown banked, tidal River in Albert County; which is now known as Metro Moncton. Metropolitan status reflects Moncton regions growing population service base of over 150,000 population in a geographic area comprising the two counties and Kent County, which borders Moncton's northern perimeter.

Greater Moncton is located at the geographic centre of the Maritimes and acts as an anchor point during visits to the Southeast region of New Brunswick. From Fundy National Park on the Bay of Fundy (home to the highest tides in the world) to Kouchibouguac National Park (home to the warmest salt water beaches north of Virginia. It’s all within an hour’s drive.

Greater Moncton boasts several major attractions of its own including:

  • Champlain Place  – The largest single story shopping mall in Canada east of Montreal;
  • Crystal Palace – An indoor amusement park next door to Champlain Place;
  • Magic Mountain – A large water theme park located next to Moncton's world famous Magnetic Hill tourist attraction;

Moncton also draws people eager for a glimpse at its Petitcodiac River tidal bore, a phenomenon that sees a powerful rising tide create a tall wave, and for Magnetic Hill, where cars set in neutral at just the right spot will roll uphill. Magnetic Hill is also the site of the city’s zoo.

When in the city, take the time to visit the downtown shops or simply grab a snack or drink at one of the downtown cafes. Or simply take the time to visit some of the local artistry by visiting some of the cities museum and art galleries.

Moncton has an active French-speaking Acadian population, many of whom speak Chiac, a blend of English and French. The University of Moncton is ’s major French language university. Moncton is also the home of Atlantic Baptist University, a Christian liberal arts and science institution.

Travelers arrive to Moncton by air at the Greater Moncton International Airport, by rail at the downtown VIA terminal, or by vehicle on the only west to east highway in Atlantic Canada.
